What is a Pipe Nipple?
A pipe nipple is a fitting made from a short piece of pipe and typically comes with male threads on both ends. Its function as an adapter, connecting two female threaded pipes or fittings.

- Material
- ERW Pipe ( Welded ? )
ERW stands for Electric Resistance Welded. This pipe produced in single lengths, or in multiple lengths from coiled skelp and subsequently cut into individual lengths, having longitudinal butt joint wherein coalescence is produced by the heat obtained from resistance of the pipe to the flow of electric current in a circuit of which the pipe is a part and by the application of pressure.
We are currently producing pipe nipples using ERW Pipe under specification ASTM A53 SCH40 for American standard and EN10255 Heavy/Medium Series for British Standard.See technical article.
- Seamless Pipe
Seamless pipe made without a welded seam. It is manufactured by hot working steel and, if necessary, by subsequently cold finishing the hot worked tubular product to produce the desired shape, dimensions, and properties.
We are currently producing pipe nipples using Seamless Pipe under specification ASTM A106 SCH80 for American standard.
- Brass Pipe
Brass pipe is manufactured from alloy C23000 and moderately resistant to many corrosive solutions and is often utilized for water supply and distribution.
We are currently producing brass pipe nipples using Brass pipe under specification of ASTM B43.See technical article.
- Kind of Pipe Nipples
- T.B.E Pipe Nipple
T.B.E stands for threaded both ends. These kind of pipe nipples are very popular in industry. We are currently producing pipe nipples under specification:
- For American Standard: Product standard refers to ASTM A733 and threads conforms to ASME-B1-20-1_2013
- For British Standard: Product standard refers to EN10241 Heavy and Medium Series and thread conforms to ISO 7-1. Thistype of pipe nipple is commonly known as Barrel Nipple.
- Available in range of size from NPS ¼” to 6” and maximum of 96” in length.
- Available in black and hot dip galvanized with min. 77 µ for ASTM A53 American Standard and min. 45 µ for EN10255 British Standard
- For Brass Pipe nipples refers to ASTM B687 and threads conforms to ASME-B1-20-1_2013
- Close Pipe Nipple
A close nipple has no unthreaded area which means that when two female fittings are screwed tightly onto both ends of the nipple, very little of the nipple will still be exposed.
This style of nipple is commonly known as Barrel Nipple
- For Brass Pipe nipples refers to ASTM B687 and threads conforms to ASME-B1-20-1_2013
- T.O.E Pipe Nipple
T.O.E stands for threaded one end. This kind of nipple is typically used as legs for oil tanks. We are currently producing this type of pipe nipple under ASTM A733 standard, and threads conforms to ASME-B1-20-1_2013.
- Grooved Pipe Nipples
Grooved pipe nipples are commonly used in commercial or industrial construction, mining, and process piping applications.
We are currently producing Groove x Groove and Groove x Thread under specification ASTM A733 standard, threads conform to ASME-B1-20-1_2013 and Groove cut under AWWA C606 Standard.
